### How to Stay Organized When Closing Books Remotely
](https://www.g2.com/articles/how-to-stay-organized-when-closing-books-remotely)
Almost any public or private business with an accounting and finance department performs a month, quarter, and year-end close, which is a series of steps to review, record, and reconcile accounting information. For this blog, I’m going to refer to only month-end close for consistency and simplicity.

[Top platforms for multi-entity financial close management?](/discussions/top-platforms-for-multi-entity-financial-close-management)

I'm trying to find the top platforms for multi-entity financial close management. What makes multi-entity close management tricky is that entity count alone is not the whole story. The bigger differentiators often seem to be intercompany eliminations, FX and consolidation logic, central vs local ownership, and whether close visibility also needs to connect to reporting packages and audit support. To dive deeper, I looked at G2's [Financial Close Software](https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-close) category and here are my top picks:

- [**OneStream - Unified EPM**](https://www.g2.com/products/onestream-unified-epm/reviews) — Particularly relevant where multi-entity close is tightly tied to consolidation, intercompany eliminations, foreign exchange, and a single close workflow.
- [**Workiva**](https://www.g2.com/products/workiva-workiva/reviews) — A strong candidate when multi-entity close also depends on linked reports, shared documentation, and cross-team collaboration with audit-ready controls.
- [**LiveFlow**](https://www.g2.com/products/liveflow/reviews) — Interesting for leaner teams because G2 positions it around multi-entity finance, and reviews emphasize real-time updates plus strong QuickBooks and Google Sheets connectivity.
- [**Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close**](https://www.g2.com/products/oracle-financial-consolidation-and-close/reviews) — Makes sense when entity consolidation and close need to stay together in the same decision, especially where transparency and accuracy are central requirements.
- [**CCH Tagetik**](https://www.g2.com/products/cch-tagetik/reviews) — Worth a look when multi-entity close management needs more customization across finance processes, reporting, and data governance than lighter close tools usually provide.

For teams running multi-entity closes, did the winning platform actually reduce coordination friction across entities, or did it mostly shift the work into mapping, governance, and setup?

I also found the best [enterprise financial close software](https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-close/enterprise) category on G2 helpful for seeing how these platforms compare specifically in larger, multi-entity environments, especially once complexity starts to scale beyond a few entities.

[Best tools for managing intercompany reconciliations?](/discussions/best-tools-for-managing-intercompany-reconciliations)

We’re researching the best tools for managing intercompany reconciliations. Looking at G2's [**Financial Close Software**](https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-close) category, the tools that seem most relevant upfront are Cadency by Trintech and BlackLine Financial Close Management, not just because they help automate the work, but because they appear to differ meaningfully in transaction matching, exception handling, ERP connectivity, and how tightly intercompany sits inside the broader close.

1. [**Cadency by Trintech**](https://www.g2.com/products/cadency-by-trintech/reviews) — A very relevant option when the problem is high-volume matching across many sources. G2 content points to transaction matching, account reconciliation, journal entry, close task management, configurable rules, and exception workflows that reduce manual effort.
2. [**BlackLine Financial Close Management**](https://www.g2.com/products/blackline-blackline-financial-close-management/reviews) — Stronger when intercompany reconciliation needs to sit inside a broader controlled close process. Its product page explicitly calls out intercompany accounting, and reviews mention automated intercompany reconciliations, centralized data, real-time visibility, and compliance benefits.
3. [**OneStream - Unified EPM**](https://www.g2.com/products/onestream-unified-epm/reviews) — Looks best suited for organizations where intercompany work is inseparable from consolidation, foreign exchange, and overall finance-platform complexity. Its G2 page specifically references intercompany eliminations, a single close workflow, dashboards, and automation that reduces manual reconciliation work.
4. [**Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close**](https://www.g2.com/products/oracle-financial-consolidation-and-close/reviews) — Worth evaluating when intercompany reconciliation is part of a broader consolidation-and-close decision. G2 positions it around minimizing risk, improving transparency, and increasing accuracy, and reviews point to automation and compliance strengths alongside a learning curve.
5. [**CCH Tagetik**](https://www.g2.com/products/cch-tagetik/reviews) — A sensible option to explore when intercompany reconciliation sits inside a more customized consolidation and reporting environment. G2 reviews emphasize flexibility, customization, reporting, and data management, which can matter if entity structures or governance requirements are not straightforward.

For teams doing a lot of intercompany, where do you still end up stepping in manually even after implementing these tools? Is it fixing mismatches, chasing down counterparties, or cleaning up entries before close?

I’m also curious how these tools handle timing differences between entities. When one side posts earlier than the other, does the system manage that cleanly, or does it still create noise that teams have to sort through during close?

[Best software for tracking financial close status in real time?](/discussions/best-software-for-tracking-financial-close-status-in-real-time)

We’re researching the best software for tracking financial close status in real time. While comparing top ranking tools on G2's [**Financial Close Software**](https://www.g2.com/categories/financial-close) category page, here's what we’re trying to understand better:

- whether status updates happen automatically through workflow activity or still rely on manual checkoffs
- how easy it is to spot blockers, dependencies, and overdue approvals
- whether “real-time” visibility extends into reporting and supporting documentation, or stops at task status

Based on the above mentioned factors, these are my top choices:

1. [**Workiva**](https://www.g2.com/products/workiva-workiva/reviews) — Especially relevant when close-status visibility needs to stay tied to live documents, linked data, and shared reporting work. G2 reviews repeatedly point to real-time collaboration, data integrity, audit trails, and reduced version-control issues.
2. [**BlackLine Financial Close Management**](https://www.g2.com/products/blackline-blackline-financial-close-management/reviews) — A stronger fit when the team wants a more centralized operational view of the close, including dashboards, task dependencies, and drill-down visibility into work in progress. It seems best suited to teams that want more structure and control, not just a checklist.
3. [**Numeric**](https://www.g2.com/products/numeric/reviews) — Looks promising for teams that want close-status visibility without a lot of overhead. Reviews emphasize ease of use, task tracking, organization, and visibility throughout the month-end close process, which makes it feel especially practical for accounting-led teams.
4. [**SAP Advanced Financial Closing**](https://www.g2.com/products/sap-advanced-financial-closing/reviews) — Particularly interesting for SAP-centric organizations because it is built around a centralized, automated task list with real-time dashboards and audit trails inside the SAP environment. The main caution from reviews is that usability and reporting flexibility can still be a challenge.
5. [**FloQast**](https://www.g2.com/products/floqast/reviews) — Worth considering when the goal is to make status visible and accountable without asking the team to change everything about how they already close. G2 reviews highlight task tracking, organization, and smoother month-end coordination.

For teams that tried to make close status more real time, which updates actually became trustworthy automatically, and where did manual status maintenance still creep back in?

I’m also curious how well these tools handle last-minute adjustments during close. When entries get revised or dependencies shift late in the cycle, does the system automatically reflect that in status and timelines, or does it create gaps in visibility until someone updates things manually?
