Can I use Kendo UI for free?
Can I use Kendo UI for free?

Yes — but only in limited ways. Most features of Kendo UI require a paid license for production use.
What “free” means for Kendo UI
----------------------------------------
1. Kendo UI Core / Open‑Source Part
Kendo UI Core is a sub‑set of the full UI library, released under the Apache‑2.0 license.
That means you can use these core widgets and components in both commercial and non commercial projects, subject to the terms of Apache‑2.0.
It’s good for simpler UI needs, or if you’re building something that doesn’t need all the advanced, premium widgets.
2. Free Trials / Evaluation Licenses
Kendo UI offers a trial period to evaluate the full features. Typically this is 30 days. During trial, you're not allowed to use it in production, commercial, or training settings.
After trial, you’ll need to buy a proper developer/commercial license to continue usage in real projects.
3. Free “Light” / Free plan for certain editions
For example, KendoReact has a free plan (or free‑tier package) that gives access to a selection of React components, some themes, etc. This can be used even in production.

But the free plan is limited in what you get vs the full/pro version. If you need advanced widgets, premium support, or frequent updates, you'll be hitting the paid version’s features.

Yes Kendo Core is free. Thats enough for most of what you need.
When you want to do charting then there is a cost.
The real benefit is access to Technical support to get your project up and running fast. During the free trial you can get your questions answered. The free trial is different to the free kendocore.
