Question on: Brandwatch Consumer Intelligence
What is the difference between a mention and a query that is referenced in the Brandwatch pricing?Mention vs. Query

a mention is a single tweet, comment, retweet and so in any site.
a query is a string of keywords that you can use to search for mentions.
In pricing: mention volume is about how many monthly mentions you can get, no matter how much queries you use. Queries gives you limited queries spaces (i.e 30 queries) and unlimited mentions.
You should evaluate how much data you will be collecting. If there would be lost of data and few costumers, go fo queries.

Hi, here's a quick description of each, which might help clear things up:
A query is a search for something - be it a brand name (Nokia), a competitor (Samsung) or even a whole topic (Smart Phones).
A mention is a tweet, blog post, update, news article or any other online 'mention' that matches that query. A forum post about Nokia or a Facebook update about smart phones would be examples of this.
So you could have five smallish queries each with 10,000 mentions within them, or you could have one larger query with 50,000 mentions in it. It's just a different type of requirement and our pricing is designed to be flexible enough to acommodate different types of needs.
Does that make sense?
Thanks

Mentions based pricing is based off a certain number of artifacts that you can collect per month, say 500K. Where as Query based is based on the number of active queries you can have running, say 5 or 10, and they tend to be not as mention restrictive.
