A client portal is a web-based software that allows you to securely store and share files, collaborate with your customers on projects, and generally keep your business-customer communication secure from external threats. Generally, you have a clearly defined and secure space for each of your clients. For instance, you can have a separate sub-portal for each of your customers ensuring that all communication and files are only accessible by authorised employees and only specific clients in a specific way (eg. you can request a signature or request a document upload from a client to a specific folder, limit the time the other party can access this file etc.). Some portals (such as Clinked) offer additional features, such as secure chat capabilities, which can be very useful (I use this feature all the time, as 1. all comms are secure, 2. the chat history is kept, 3. can get hold of the client quickly). They also offer a mobile app (this is how I mostly use chat). So, a client portal is not just for file storage!

Make Drive your master data and information storage by using Shared Drives and always sharing links instead of copies and duplicates of files. Make your access credential managment simple – assign to groups not persons! In short – set up an policy for how you handle information and how you want it to make work and life easier.
