[Which academic advising solutions let advisors add comments visible to all partner schools automatically?](/discussions/which-academic-advising-solutions-let-advisors-add-comments-visible-to-all-partner-schools-automatically)

Hey G2 community, I'm working on a piece about [academic advising software](https://www.g2.com/categories/academic-advising) and this particular feature is one that came up in a consortium context: the ability for an advisor at one institution to leave a comment on a student record that other partner schools can see without any manual forwarding or export. Shared notes infrastructure, basically. Turns out this is harder to find than you'd expect.

- [**Achieve**](https://www.g2.com/products/e2e-advising-achieve/reviews) has shared notes as a core function. Reviewers consistently describe the ability for all advisors to see a student's full history, with notes attached to the student record and visible across the team. Whether that extends to partner institutions depends on configuration, but the shared visibility architecture is there.
- [**Jenzabar One**](https://www.g2.com/products/jenzabar-one/reviews) addresses this through its campus-wide data sharing model, where information is accessible to anyone with the right permissions. Reviewers describe it as solving the fragmentation problem specifically because "everyone can access whatever they need." For multi-school setups, the permissioning framework would be the thing to dig into.
- [**Agentforce Education**](https://www.g2.com/products/agentforce-education-formerly-salesforce-education-cloud/reviews) is built for exactly this kind of shared constituent data model, and serves as a "single source of truth throughout the student journey" according to one reviewer. Cross-institution visibility would require configuration, but the platform supports it.
- [**Ellucian Student**](https://www.g2.com/products/ellucian-student/reviews) handles shared record access at scale. With 263 reviews, it's the most reviewed platform in this category and tends to come up for enterprise-level institutional data sharing.

For those running multi-school programs: do you currently have a shared notes setup that actually works, or is it still mostly email and spreadsheets?

The honest answer to the final question in this thread is that for most multi-school programs it's still largely email and spreadsheets, not because shared notes platforms don't exist but because cross-institution permissioning tends to require more configuration than a single school's IT team wants to take on. Achieve's shared notes architecture working within an institution is well-documented; how it extends to partner schools is the configuration question worth pressing the vendor on directly.

[Which academic advising platforms offer consolidated scheduling across multiple departments and institutions?](/discussions/which-academic-advising-platforms-offer-consolidated-scheduling-across-multiple-departments-and-institutions)

This is a question I keep running into while researching [academic advising software](https://www.g2.com/categories/academic-advising), especially for consortium-style setups or larger universities where advising isn't centralized. Consolidated scheduling across departments sounds simple but it tends to break down when each department has its own calendar, its own system, and no shared visibility on student records.

- [**Achieve**](https://www.g2.com/products/e2e-advising-achieve/reviews) reviewers specifically mention multi-department use: one institution reported it running across six departments, with appointment types, confirmation emails, and queue management customized per office. The two-way Outlook and Google Calendar sync also comes up as a practical feature for keeping advisor calendars in line across teams. Reviewers rate it 4.8 stars across 60 reviews.
- [**Jenzabar One**](https://www.g2.com/products/jenzabar-one/reviews) is built for campus-wide deployment and regularly comes up in reviews from registrar and multi-department contexts. The cross-department data sharing is a core part of what reviewers like about it, and its ability to scale for small or large institutions gets mentioned.
- [**Agentforce Education**](https://www.g2.com/products/agentforce-education-formerly-salesforce-education-cloud/reviews) handles multi-campus and multi-departmental setups through its Salesforce architecture. Reviewers describe building custom views and role-based dashboards, which is useful when different departments have different scheduling needs but need to share student data.
- [**Ellucian Smart Planning & Registration**](https://www.g2.com/products/ellucian-smart-planning-registration/reviews) fits institutions already in the Ellucian ecosystem. For multi-department degree planning and registration coordination, it connects naturally with the rest of the stack.

If you're managing scheduling across multiple departments, is the bigger challenge the calendar sync, the record visibility, or getting consistent adoption across teams?

Getting consistent adoption across teams is the underrated challenge in this thread. The calendar sync and record visibility problems are technically solvable, but a platform that three out of six departments are using consistently is effectively a broken hub model regardless of what the scheduling infrastructure looks like underneath it. Achieve's six-department deployment being described in reviewers' own usage context rather than in marketing materials is the kind of adoption signal that matters here.

[Which academic advising tools provide same-day support for emergency schedule changes and placement adjustments?](/discussions/which-academic-advising-tools-provide-same-day-support-for-emergency-schedule-changes-and-placement-adjustments)

I've been covering [academic advising software](https://www.g2.com/categories/academic-advising) and this question keeps coming up: when a student has an emergency and needs a same-day schedule change or placement adjustment, which platforms actually support that without a multi-day ticket process? The answer seems to depend heavily on how the tool handles walk-in queues and real-time advisor access.

- [**Achieve**](https://www.g2.com/products/e2e-advising-achieve/reviews) gets called out repeatedly for same-day and walk-in handling. Reviewers describe using the check-in queue for walk-in students and the platform supporting in-person, phone, and Zoom appointment types. Several users specifically mention using it daily for walk-in queue management. The system has been used daily across six different departments at some institutions, which suggests it holds up under volume.
- [**VisitDays**](https://www.g2.com/products/visitdays/reviews) is worth noting for the scheduling and outreach side of the equation. Reviewers praise the responsiveness of the team for adjustments and the smooth experience for both registrants and administrators. For emergency communications and quick pivots, the text message reminder and check-in flow gets specific praise.
- [**Jenzabar One**](https://www.g2.com/products/jenzabar-one/reviews) reviewers describe it as helpful for streamlining registrar operations and student scheduling, though a few note that page load speeds can slow things down during high-volume periods.
- [**uConnect**](https://www.g2.com/products/uconnect/reviews) takes a lighter approach, focused more on connecting students to resources and career content than real-time schedule management. It works better as a complement to a scheduling system than as the primary tool for same-day changes.

What does same-day turnaround actually look like at your institution? Is it fully within the advising platform, or does it still require a direct email or call to someone?

The question about what same-day turnaround actually looks like at a given institution is the practical one. Achieve's walk-in queue management being used daily across six departments at some institutions is a meaningful signal, but the answer to the final question in this thread is usually that even with a strong platform, a direct call or message to someone still happens for the most time-sensitive situations, and the platform's job is to make sure that conversation doesn't then require a separate manual system update.
